The use of drones in EMS started in 2020 with the Spartan program, which aimed to supplement public safety efforts. Drones are used daily for search and rescue, high-angle rescue, swift water rescue, and providing overwatch for community health paramedics. They're also used during large events to monitor crowds and provide real-time information to first responders.
Drones have the potential to save time and deliver life-saving equipment more efficiently, such as blood and Narcan kits. Chris encourages other EMS departments to start small, ask for help, and take action to improve public safety.
