Chris explains that EMS operations go beyond ambulances and encompass various specialty teams and events. The use of drones in EMS started in 2020 with the Spartan program, which aimed to supplement public safety efforts. Drones are used daily for search and rescue, high-angle rescue, swift water rescue, and providing overwatch for community health paramedics. They're also used during large events to monitor crowds and provide real-time information to first responders.
Drones have the potential to save time and deliver life-saving equipment more efficiently, such as blood and Narcan kits. Chris encourages other EMS departments to start small, ask for help, and take action to improve public safety.
